By Professor Aparecido “Bill” Ferreira
In 1985, I tied my first white belt. At that moment, I didn’t realize I was starting a journey that would span four decades, multiple continents, and thousands of hours on the mats. Today, as a 6th-degree Black Belt and the founder of Bill Jiu-Jitsu, my mission has shifted from winning world titles to building the next generation of leaders here in Jacksonville.
Experience in martial arts isn’t just about time; it’s about the standard of excellence maintained over that time. I am proud to share my 6th-degree Black Belt certificate, which I received on March 13, 2024. This rank represents decades of dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and my commitment to providing the highest level of instruction to my students.

In a world of “pop-up” gyms, experience is the ultimate differentiator. Since 1985, I have seen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu evolve from a niche martial art into a global phenomenon. I have competed as a 2x World Champion and a 5x Brazilian National Champion, but my greatest achievement is the “Legacy Plan” I am building with my students today.
When you train at our academy, you aren’t just learning “moves.” You are learning a disciplined lifestyle backed by forty years of trial, error, and mastery.
At Bill Jiu-Jitsu, we focus on what I call the “Triple Threat of Growth”:
My journey isn’t over. I am currently on the path toward my 7th-degree Coral Belt, a milestone I will reach after completing 31 years as a black belt. This academy is my legacy, and I invite you to be a part of it.
Are you ready to start your own journey with a true Master of the art?
